Polyester is a synthetic fiber produced by the polymerization of the product formed when an alcohol and an
organic acid react. In the United States polyester is the most widely used manufactured fiber.
Polyesters are made into knitted and woven fabrics either alone, or blended with other fibers like cotton.
Polyester is used in home furnishings, apparel, upholstery, fiberfill, and in stuffing for comforters, and pillows.
Other uses include, ropes, nets, thread, and floor coverings.
It washes easily and has better wrinkle resistance than cotton. Polyester is mildew resistant, quick drying, and strong.
